Information for Pension Meteor & Meteor Log Hotel Customers.

Welcome to the Hakuba Meteor Brownie accommodation. Thank you for staying with us.

We hope you have nice stay and we will do anything in our power to make your time with us as comfortable as possible.

If you have any questions or queries regarding our accommodation or the Hakuba area please feel free to ask and we will help in any way we can (We have English speaking staff available for your care).

The manager and staff pride themselves on providing the best quality facilities available for your stay.

So, if there are any problems with your accommodation let us know and we will find a solution as soon as time allows.

House Rules and Policies:

Reception hours are from 7am - 10am and from 3pm - 11pm, please respect these hours unless there is an absolute emergency.

In Japan it is tradition and is required that all outdoor foot wear be removed prior to entry to the accommodations. There are areas in all accommodations where foot wear can be removed and then stored.

In Japan all rubbish is recycled and must be separated into 4 categories:

1.  Cans and tins.

2.  Pet bottles (plastic bottles).

3.  Glass bottles and jars.

4.  General rubbish (all the rest).

General rubbish can be put into your accommodations rubbish bins, and the other recyclables can be separated and put into their corresponding bins at the top of the stairs next to the common toilets.

We at Meteor believe in ecology and minimising humans’ impact on the earth. This includes saving power (please switch lights off when not needed etc), recycling when possible and not over using soaps and detergents (thus reusing towels etc). Please help us as much as possible to help the earth. 

The lights in all the public areas will be shut off at 11pm.

All rooms at Meteor are non smoking!!!  Please smoke outside.

Room Cleaning:

Room cleaning in both these accommodations will be done once every 4 days and this includes cleaning of facilities, towel change and bedding changes. If you need new towel, please call reception.

Laundromat (Coin Laundry):

Laundromat is next to the METEOR pension. We sell laundry soap at the reception desk for 20yen for one load. Small change of coin at the reception desk .

The laundry room is open between 10:00-21:00.

Room Appliances:

Room appliances are available for use, but please think of others when using the TVs and hair dryers. The rooms are very close, so please don’t use hair dryers after 10pm and keep the TVs volume low.

There is a microwave and refrigerator at the top of the stairs for common use and downstairs there is always hot pot and cup for drinks in the common living area.

DVD Players:

We have a DVD players and some movis at the reception desk. Please ask.

Room Telephone:

The telephone in your rooms is unable to connect to outside lines. If you need to make a call to an outside locations please come to reception and this can be arranged.

Phonecall charges : The inside of a zone is 20 yen per minute. Zone outside is 60 yen per minute.

Incoming calls to Meteor can be transferred to your rooms so if you need to receive a call please let your friends, family or colleagues know the Meteor reception number and your accommodation room number.

Internet Access:

Internet is free and can be accessed by LAN cable or by wireless connection depending on your accommodation; both are unsecured so are free to access. We also provide a computer at Meteor reception, for those who do not have a computer of their own, free of charge. If you have troubles connecting please let reception know and we will try to help as soon as possible. However, please be reminded that internet settings can sometimes be very complicated and we do not have information science experts on hand. Sometimes the Meteor network is not to blame but the settings of your own computer! However we will do our best to remedy connection problems.

Security Deposit Boxes:

There are security deposit boxes for your valuables in the foyer area  free of charge (near reception desk).

Pension Common Bath and Shower Areas:

There are men’s and women’s bath and shower rooms available for use on the bottom floor of the Pension Meteor. The baths are available for use from 4pm-10pm. The showers maybe used anytime.

Ski Storage and Drying Rooms:

There is ski storage and drying room area, for all customers, on the bottom floor of the Pension Meteor. The entrance is found between the Pension and Log Hotels entrances.

Public Toilets:

There are public toilets available for all on the first and second floors of the Pension Meteor. The one on the first floor is a Japanese style and on the second floor is European style.

Ski Shuttles and Local Buses:

Included in this information book are maps and schedules for local shuttles and buses. Again if you have any queries please ask Meteor reception.

If you need a taxi ordered for you please let reception know where you want to go, how many people and what time you want to be picked up.

Japanese Onsens and Public Baths:

There are many traditional Japanese baths and natural hot springs in and around Hakuba. Discount tickets can be bought from the Meteor reception for these. When going to these baths please respect the rules and local customs of such establishments. Some favourite Onsen locations are marked on the English map included in this folder.

In House Food and local Restaurants:

Dinner and breakfast can be eaten at the Meteor Pension base, with a mix of Japanese and Western styles. Meals must be booked the day before. Breakfast is 1000 yen per person and dinner is 15002500 yen per person. Please note numbers are limited so early reservations are best. Please inquire at reception for more information.

A light meal menu is always OK.

Curry and rice  → 700yen

There are also many wonderful Japanese restaurants in and around Hakuba. Many are very close and are marked on the English map in this folder. Bookings are usually not necessary but if large groups want to go to one restaurant a booking may be advisable.

Check In and Check Out:

Check in to all accommodation is possible from 3pm.

Check out of all accommodation is before 10am.

English Communication:

Please note, not all Meteor staff are able to speak English. They will try to help as much as possible but this can be hindered due to communication difficulties. Please be patient and respectful of the Japanese people and remember you are in Japan. If there is a big problem, which cannot be resolved, please wait for an English speaking staff member to help you.
